The Lumix GX8

The Lumix GX8 – Still Going In 2021

First announced in July of 2015 the Lumix GX8 was Panasonic’s first real photo centric digital camera. A retro “Rangefinder” style camera, its looks and performance still hold up today in 2021.

I got mine 2nd hand from a videographer in 2018 for the bargain price of $300 (I’m pretty sure the seller did not know his cameras, win-win for me) Ever since that day I’ve used this little beast as my main camera and only recently it has become my B-Cam as I’ve upgraded to a Lumix G9.

However due to its covenant size this is still my go-to camera for hitting the streets and personal work – AND in saying that I still shoot it professionally mainly for my lifestyle and family portrait sessions as its small size is less intimidating and I’m able to be a bit more nimble on my feet.

After a quick look on eBay and Gumtree I’m seeing the GX8 is getting harder and harder to find and the ones that are on there are up and around the $1000 mark, which says to me they still are in-demand little cameras with a cult-like following.

This particular camera is staying in my camera bag for a while to come – Its performance is still up there in 2021 and again its size is perfect for just slipping in the bag as the perfect little B-Cam.

Any other GX8 users out there? How do you still like it? Anyone keen to purchase one in 2021?
